The growth potential of the New Zealand plantation forestry and wood processing industry is huge.
Within 20 years, the sustainable radiata pine forests could be producing as much as some of the really big players like Sweden, Finland and British Columbia (Canada).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) the annual sustainable harvest from New Zealand’s pine forests will, within a couple of decades, exceed 40 million m3 a year.
But that is some way off. Let’s look at current harvest levels and other relevant information.
