Gum Emperor Moth

Genus:  Antheraea Eucalypti

Size:  14cm wing span
 
Notes:  Brought into New Zealand in 1920 and thrives on eucalyptus leaves. The moth is on the wing from October to January. Caterpillars are 12.5cm long, fully grown. Belongs to the same group as commercial silkworms.
