Common Wasp

Genus:  Vespula Vulgaris

Size:  1.6cm

Notes:  A more recent introduction of the social wasps and often seen in plantation forests. Queens hibernate for six months and the first of the new season's workers emerge in June. By late summer or early autumn fertile adult wasps emerge and with these females, the cycle starts over again.
