NEW ZEALAND FARM FORESTRY ASSOCIATION

An organisation with approximately 2500 members, the NZFFA represents
small forest growers interests (generally farm forestry). This group has
been responsible for planting 50% of New Zealand's new forest through the
1990s. Changing land use has made it hard to keep membership as product prices
have increased ahead of timber prices.

Key points about NZFFA are:

  • Includes a number of action groups, including Eucalypt, Redwood, Blackwood, and Indigenous.
participant and contributor to research (eg Forest and Farm plantation management Co-op).
Actively involved with industry forest health, rural fires, and training
    programmes.
Signatory to the NZ Forest Accord.
Makes submissions on statutes and regulations affecting farm forestry( eg Regional and District plans).
Promotes the production of high quality timber to make the best return to the grower by using good silviculture practices.
Promotes the planting of shade and shelter trees in the interest of good animal welfare improving the landscape.
